PROBLEM

How can we assist cyclists in customizing a bike that suits their needs and style?

Within the bicycle industry, a notable issue lies in the restricted variety of style options linked to the specific drivetrains cyclists use. Numerous bicycles in the market are limited to standard basic colors, preventing riders from showcasing their personal style and setting themselves apart on the road. This creation of Cycle Colors, a customizable bike platform, impacts the capacity to choose the right drivetrain, style and accessories for comfort, catering to the distinct preferences of individual cyclists.

By implementing a three steps to simplified bicycle customization with mix-and-match options.

RESEARCH

Restricted style customization options and a limited range of accessories based on different bike drivetrains.

To begin the project, I interviewed different cyclists to understand the criteria's that were important for them and the problems they have faced while choosing the right bicycle. I was quickly made aware of the lack of style customization options in the market and the limited amount of accessories for each bike drivetrain.

Cyclists require unique bike styles to their preferred drivetrain.

By conducting a series of interviews and employing empathy mapping techniques, I gained valuable insights into the needs of users, leading to a significant realization. Many individuals expressed their dissatisfaction with having bikes that looked the same as others and desired a means to stand out from the crowd. Additionally, my research unveiled that cyclists have distinct requirements based on the natural drivetrain conditions in their respective locations. To ensure broad appeal and meet the diverse needs of users, an extensive study was conducted.
